Travel Forums System Talk wrong notification link

1. Posted by Magonia (Respected Member 2 posts) 7y

When I post an item my subscribers get a wrong link. Instead of magonia.travellerspoint.com/... they receive a www.travellerspoint.com/... link ending in a non-existent page.
What is wrong? I haven't changed anything on my laptop.

Something changed on our side, and the way this worked was mis-interpreted. Thanks for the note, I'm fixing it right now, and this should be fixed on the live site shortly!

Okay, I've committed the changes for this. Sam and Peter will need to test that, and assuming no further problems are discovered, it'll be fixed on the site shortly after that. Again, thanks for noting this, and our apologies for the problems this caused!

Hi Magonia, the fix is uploaded and future emails should go out as expected. Sorry for the trouble!

Oh, I keep forgetting to mention:

When I get post notifications by email, the text is all one, big jumble now. It used to be in bigger type and very readable, but now it's a single-spaced, single-paragraph lump. Did something change? Or maybe it's just yahoo that's messed something up...?

*looks* Ah yes, I see what's happening. We just started sending out an HTML version of our emails next to the original plain text version - but when the text of the email was created by someone else (such as happens with forum posts), we don't apply HTML formatting to it, and so all the linebreaks get lost.
I'm heading out right now, but hopefully someone else should pick this up and fix it within the day (I think Sam's off, so probably when Peter wakes up again). Thanks for mentioning it!

Peter here, logging in under another account just to make sure the replies are formatted ok. ..

In fact, it should be vastly improved, because it will include a lot of the formatting seen in the forums.

like bold text, quotes, italic text and even emoticons

That seemed to work just fine now :)

Let me know if you spot any other weird emails or other strangeness.. some significant changes going on in the background; the reason will soon be revealed ;)

It's brilliant, Peter! Wow--nice and clear.
