Does anyone know how stringent the authorities are in Indonesia on visa's. Thinking of tavelling in February and i maybe there longer than the 30 days you are given on arrival (i have read this includes day of arrival and you must be departing on 30th day). I know that i can obtain a 60 day visa before travel but is it really necessary?
If so, anyone got any ideas how much it costs and how long it takes to get?
Yes, it is most necessary to get a 60 day visa if you are going to be going over your 30 days. You can apply in your own country or get one in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok- very easy.
If you would like more details please sens me a message and I will inform you completely.
Easy????? We found it not that easy. We applied two times for a 60-day visa, the first time in Davao, Philippines and the second time in Kuching, Malaysia.
The first time, in Davao, it took us three days and several talks to the consul before we finally had our visa. The second time, in Kuching, it took us only a few hours....
Both times their first reaction was that is was not possible to obtain a 60-day visa, so if they refuse, you have to be very patient and start a little discussion...
Sorry to hear you had problems getting 60 day visas, but then you applied for them in out of the way places and that sometimes happens.
My experiences in two of the places I mentioned previously were easy Singapore in 2006 and Penang 2006 and uncomplicated and from the reports on Lonely Planet Thorn Tree of recent times Kuala Lumpur is easy as well.
