Can anyone suggest any cheap Camper van hire companies in NZ(similar to wickedcampers from Aus) ?
Also are there any camp site clubs like in Aus such as Big4 and top tourist?
Thanks
Matt

hello im an industrial design student at Uclan, im in my final year n i have to design a product. my idea is to design a camcorder for travellers so they can send there images in real time to friend and family via wireless internet. the camera will tackle such problems of storage but the main emphasis wil be to share your experience with other members. with your travelling experience do u think such a product will be usefull. your opinion will be much appriciated

regards
jamie

Hi Matt,
My favourite subject! I used Pacific Horizon who were cheaper than the two biggest companies (Maui and Britz). www.pacifichorizon.co.nz/
There are probably a dozen rental companies in NZ at least.
Adventure Motorhomes did some nice ones too www.nzmotorhomes.co.nz/

There are a few campsite groups. The biggest seemed to be www.Top10.co.nz
We used them - joining gets you 10% off prices, but this only brings them into line with independents. Still, they were all a good standard - the independents can be good, but some are rough.
Let me know if you want advice about any specifics.

Most campsites are pretty good & have good facilities. All have communal fridge/freezer, cooking stoves etc etc. We have the Top 10 card, & bought a tent. The card costs $20 (NZ) & you also get some discount in local "tourist attractions". As Stevie said the 10% just bring the price down to the norm, but they are good. Maui & Britz seem very popular, but these are the 2 most expensive. Sorry but Idon't know any of the cheap companies cos we got a tent instead.
The cabinsat the campsites are fairly cheap for a basic one, if you wanted to hire a very cheap car - Rent a Dent or Usave.

Hope that helps a little.
