Hello fellow travelers!!!
I am currently in Buenos Aires, but am trying to plan a trip down south and explore Patagonia!
My boyfriend and I have been reading books and searching endlessly online for ideas and recomendations...
We are on a tight budget and would love to travel by bus or train, the cheapest way!
Does anyone have any suggestions about the best routes to take to see Patagonia...
any accomadation suggestions... are there any great treking or hiking routes that we can do without guides or companies???
Thanks for your help!!! We greatly appreciate it!!

What's that small town near the glaciers? I just saw a documentary on it this week - looks very interesting!

No trains, you´ll have to take the bus. Trekking highlights and Bariloche, Esquel, El Bolson, El Chalten, and Ushuaia. El Calafate is where that glaciar is but that´s all there is there, not much treking (or at least i couldn´t find any). You can trek in these places without guides. Maps can be obtained from tourist info, alpine clubs, or park guards.

All these towns have hostels or camping. A hostel could be around AR$30 - 40 and camping maybe half that.

hope this helps,

Steve
