Well, I'm not embarrassed to be amongst you young people (!!)

I'm in my 40's but have a very light-hearted free-spirited view of life and have travelled a fair amount over the years. Central and Eastern Africa, Mexico, the States, India, Thailand, Canada, Western and Eastern Europe etc..

I'd love to travel <almost> anywhere in the Far East or Africa again.
Beaches, deserts, eastern culture and wonderful people (and food!).

Perhaps a decent backpacking anytime after July 2009. It would be great to find a travelling partner to share the adventures - all my pals are too busy in the "career fast lane" at the moment, or with families!

I'm rather lucky in that I'm an artist so it is rather more simple to take time off when I need it.

On a budget - no 5 stars (well, maybe on the last day, it's important to treat yourself!) I'm currently residing in West London. Drop me a line if you're in London or planning to be in the city over the coming months.

Cheers!

Lizzie

ps Loony Tunes or MWNW (men-who-need-wives) need not apply - sorry! :-)javascript:insertAtCursor(document.Form.Message,%20'');

Young people? Damn..am I on the wrong site?

I am heading out to Indonesia for the big five oh next year for five weeks, you are welcome to join me for all or part, but I leave in May. Normally I would travel alone but I am heading out of my African comfort zone and would appreciate some company!
Taking in the Maluku islands as well as Banda and Kei...beaches to die for..if that tempts you

Hi Baluba, That is exactly the place I would like to go - it's good in the summer months. Only problem is that I really can't go until the end of July. I have a big project coming up which I cannot change. Is there a way in which you might be able to put it back, or have you already booked your flight? What am I talking about - we haven't met yet - but it would be interesting to hear your news. If we hit it off I would have enough free time then to head off for the 5 weeks, I'm sure.

Which part of Africa do you enjoy the most? I love Zaire (have you visited the apes, and pygmies?) for its sheer lushness and friendly people, but Botswana has of course its own delights (Okavango Delta - have you ever stayed in the rooftop hotel? (Our camp travelled past but saw the prices and moved quickly on!) and the Kalahari Reserve, Namibia of course for camping in the dunes. I recall trying to bring back a 3 foot teak mask on the back of our truck - the thing broke into pieces on the journey home (heartbreaking). Then of course Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda.. The smell of the earth at dusk and the richness of the soil. I could have stayed there another 6 months easily.

Anyway, I'm reminiscing...give me a shout when you're back on.

Hi Lizzie,
I absolutely hate you for having been to Zaire (Congo), I had all intentions of spending my birthday out there next year, had it all arranged and my finger on the 'book flight' button when it all went tits up and now if you are not killed by the fanatical LRA or drug crazed Mai Mai the very bloody Ebula virus could get you. I dont't mind a bit of adventure but I am not suicidal and so decided on something a little more relaxed and leave the Congo for another day

Unfortunately changing my dates is out of the question, I had to beg on bended knees to get five weeks off and they are really not happy for me being away for the whole of June and only allowed it as it is my big birthday!

Maybe later on in the year you may fancy joining me on a wee trip to Timbuktu or something (I seem to have developed this weird thing about sand??) Having said that, you may not wish to travel with me at all once you discover that I have a host of bad habits and am irritatingly spontaneous!

I am having concerns though that the Molukus in May/June may be a bit wet, but I am on the search for the most paradisical tropical island and these seem to fit the bill. I suppose I could bugger off somewhere else if it gets a bit soggy

Check out my profile for African countries, up to 20 at the mo, 7 twice and one 3 times and planning on the whole lot before I die! I should go back for my birthday but I think it is about time I experienced something else...maybe.
