This year, I am going travelling. No arguments, no excuses - and no more faffing! And the current credit crunch will not stop me.

I've been talking about it for so long, and have finally reached the put-up or shut-up stage. The only travelling I managed to do last year was a week in Crete with my parents and a few days in Arran, which was lovely. But it only made me realise how much I really need to do this.

As yet, still no idea where I'm going first, other than hopefully there will be a distinctly spiritual slant - sign me up for meditation, yoga, chanting, reiki, studying with shamans, drumming circles and all the good stuff!

With any luck i'll also get to pitch up at a nice vineyard and learn more about wine than how much I like to drink it. Oh and climbing a few mountains would be good fun too....

I am so excited! Plan is to get on a plane from Edinburgh mid-May, so fingers crossed.

The funniest thing at the moment is keeping a straight face when people say "when you come back in a year." Hmmmm. I'll get back to you on that one. ;)

I'm also not sure whether I should be getting a working visa for Australia or New Zealand - any tips?

Here's wishing everyone a cracking 2009. It's going to be great.

Ali.

Hey all,

Glad to hear you are all looking forward to the new year, and what wonders it can bring into your life.

I also started 2009 as a singleton and it was the best decision I have made in a long while, so I thought whilst I was making life changing decisions that I would also embark on the scary but exciting thought of seeing this beautiful world that we live in, that I have yet to experience.

I have absolutely no idea where to start or where to go, so any suggestions would be greatly recieved. All I know is that I have took the first step and booked a trip to West coast USA in March on an organised trip to slowly work my way into the travelling world. Then 2010 brings a trip to see family in Australia, who I have been promising to go and visit for the past 5 years now.

So just to say best luck and wishes to all, and hope your plans go better than expected!!!

Claire
