Hi all

I am currently living in London at the present time and I want to plan a trip to Egypt in Feb or March, the only problem is flights are all up around £300 is there any easier/cheaper ways to get to Egypt that people are aware of?

Thanks guys

Hey there,

Not sure if the GBP300 is a return flight or one way but flights have got more expensive over the last couple of years (thanks to rising fuel costs and the Red Sea becoming a 'hot' destination).

If you are a student you can get cheaper flights with agents such as STA Travel and most tour companies will also give you student discounts if you are going that route.

I recently used a website called redseaflights.com (which I believe is a part of Tui Travel (huge tour operator)) for cheap flights from Gatwick to the Sinai Coast (Sharm) and the last flight I took cost GBP366 return. Try Egypt Air too as they are often cheaper than some other carriers and their flights are pretty good these days even if their airport check in organisation is not. :(

If flights to Greece or Malta are much cheaper you could consider that and catch a ferry but the combined cost would likely be more than the flight (add to that the added stress of sorting that out!), likewise for Amman (Jordan) and bus/ferry to Sinai (easier but costly). Flying into Israel is possibly not a good idea at the moment either.

At the end of the day a straight flight is probably your best option. Good luck!

Charter to Sharm, Hurgada or Luxor is the way to go. Book last-minute, offers usually become available 2-4 weeks before departure.

Cheapest flights to Egypt are usually in the first 3 weeks of Dec and late Jan, then you should be able to find deals for 140 GBP return.

Thanks for the replies I will look into it and see what i can find through some of those companies. also the way things are panning out now with work the only time i will be able to go is around June, July and if I am lucky i may be able to push it out till August. I have been looking and June, July is of course the hottest time of the year in Egypt is it still bearable or would you recommend trying to hold out till August if i can?

If possible, hold out until October/November. August and July are the hottest month, plus it being the main holiday season Egypt will be totally overrun with tourists. It is almost impossible to find cheap flights to Egypt during that time, everything will be booked solid during July. If you are set on going expect to pay something like 350 GBP for the return flight to Egypt, not 100-200 as you would in Dec/Jan.
