I stayed at the Narai back in 1982 and then in 2005.
Not exactly flash but reasonable and a 10 minute stroll to Patpong if that takes your fancy.
Also stayed at the upmarket Amari Watergate back in 2004 which was first class.

Check out some prices on hotel websites.

Just checked out the Narai for ya on one hotel website.
64 USD per night.
If you want to walk the streets of BK looking for your price range, be my guest.

Amari Watergate on the same site says 77 USD.

Should stay on Sukhumvit road if you wanna go shopping. Or, if you prefer to stay quiet, along Sathorn road is a good choice.

I Usually stay at the siamheritage since have been visiting the good tailor at the hotel for years.
The hotel is superb and in the center . Easy access to the rivers and all the shopping malls.
A night around 2000 Baht.It is near Patpong too.
