Question about an Australia working visa

Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific Question about an Australia working visa

Hey guys, nice to be here.

I've wanted to see Australia for a long time now, and because of the cost of it all and the period of time I want to be there, I decided to apply for a working visa.

I applied for it through www.immi.gov.au and when I put in the Transaction Reference Number, TRN, it leads me to a page where it says my application has been approved.

Which leads me to ask two questions. One, I have to print the letter out myself which I find incredible for such an important document. I expected an actual document to be sent to my house. Secondly, and possibly a more rational worry, it was approved on the same day I filed for the visa, which suprised me as it said it could take days.

This will be my first time travelling alone, so maybe I'm worrying over nothing. I hope so, as I can't wait.

If anyone has any tips or information about the vias, then it would be greatly appreciated. It is my first time, so it's all new to me.

Have a great day.

Take care,
Jack

I had the same thing with my Canadian visa application, they sent me a reference via email which I had to print out. You dont official get the visa (which is the important document) until you get to customs at the country your arriving at. Its up to them to approve and see that you are fit to live and work in the country, if what have any reason they feel that you shouldn't be allowed in the country they can turn you around at the airport and send you back home.

Thats not to scare you at all they are generally very easy on working holiday program. But it just explains why its so easy for you application to be approved.

I got my WHV back in the days when they did still send you a letter at the end of the process, but I got to show this letter to people precisely zero times. The letter is irrelevant. Your passport number is registered in the immigration database, and that's what's going to be looked at when you arrive in Australia. (I don't know if they actually recommend printing out the approval notification, but if so, it's probably more for "just in case" reasons than for you to actually need to have it.)
As for your second question, with tens of thousands of WHVs being given out each year (I think it might even be hundreds of thousands), they've streamlined the process tremendously. As long as none of your answers are outside the norm and you're not being picked out of the stream for a random spot-check, there's probably no human intervention at all in the process, and your application is approved completely automatically.
The "days" the website warns about is the upper bound; 90% of applicants get their WHV within the same day. (The warning is there because they don't want anyone to go and rely on this, just in case the system is over capacity or some of that random spot-checking is happening.)

So yeah, no reason to worry at all. Go and have a great time in Australia! :)
