Thanks for advice I received on travelling from Paris to Athens. I am now looking for a hostel in Paris - suitable an older person - reasonably central, in June 2009. Any of the Paris hostels here on Travellerspoint you'd recommend?

Also in Rome later in June for 2 adults and one teenager.
Thanks for any help.

The metro is good for getting around so most people settle for a place near a metro station but the big problem with the Paris metro is that it can involve a lot of walking to the trains, and especially at exchange stations. Buses may be better and they often list main destinations of each bus at bus stops. A good map of Paris is worth the few euros it costs (a magnifying glass might be necessary on the small print).

Hi I recently stayed in a Hotel that was about as cheap as a Hostel called Hotel l'Annexe, in Paris. It is located pretty central and is quite basic but comfortable. Not too much noise in the street. I think they are at about 50EUR a night right now and sometimes it goes up and down.

Otherwise I suggest you check out a site called www.lookotel.com which has mainly hotels but you can sort on price and have some pretty good rates in Paris.

Good luck.
