Hi,
This happened before. When I want to edit a photo (I want to delete the 'SONY DSC' text) it asks to provide more information. Otherwise it simply won't edit things.
Can someone help me out with this?
Cheers
Michael

Hey Michael,

Can you change the description to something else, like just another word? From this thread it appears the problem was fixed, but I'll double check with Peter that the fix was uploaded...

Hey Sam,

No, unfortunately that didn't work either. It seems that it really requires 'tags' or 'location'. It hasn't got any tags, but I mapped the photo though

Cheers!

Hmm, this probably wasn't uploaded. Quite a few changes to these files waiting in the wings (to handle a new bulk uploader), so give it a day or so and all that code will be live!

Hey Michael, just to be sure.. can you check this is working correctly for you now. I think it should be since the new uploader went live last week.

No, unfortunately not. When deleting the text SONY DSC it asks to type in the location

Same applies now that I want to join the new photo competition. It is the location that is the problem. Just typing the country will do though, but I wonder why? I mapped all of my photos. Hope that the mapping still overrules typing in the location/country again

Ok, I think I've tracked down the bug. I managed to reproduce the problem by first adding a location to a photo (success) , then going back to edit that photo and changing anything but the location. It shows success, but in reality it sets the countryID to 0 at this point. And that is considered incomplete, as the countryID is the piece of data that we insist on.

It should work now, but you will need to update the photos you currently have showing as incomplete as follows:

  • Change to a totally different location (ie, a different country or something)
  • Then change back to the location you want to make it.

Or

  • Change the location through the mapping tool

I'm pretty sure that will work to fix it. At least it did in local testing and testing online with the files that showed the same symptoms. Let me know if you notice any more problems - who knows.. I might have created another bug while creating this fix.

Hey Peter,

Thanks for the work!

Three things more:
1. Why is it necessary to add a location if when the photo is already mapped?
2. How can I edit the location on the map when editing the photo? There is no possibility...or either I don't see it
3. When editing the description part and trying to delete the "SONY DSC" text, it says that the changes have succesfully been made. But going back to my gallery and opening the photo, the sony dsc text is still there

Cheers!
Michael

Well, you shouldn't need to Is that part still not working right for you?

2. How can I edit the location on the map when editing the photo? There is no possibility...or either I don't see it

You mean to see the map while editing the photo's description, etc..? If so, then you're right. There is no way to do that. I'd have to work out how to make that sit nicely in the interface, which I'm slightly scared of to be quite honest Maybe a popup next to the location field?

Ok, well this would have to be a bug. I'll have a closer look tomorrow, but it sounds like it's just reading the EXIF data attached to your photo regardless of whether you had previously changed it. Question, if you change the SONY DSC text to something else rather than delete it, does it remember that?

Thanks Peter.

Ok, I changed the description text, that worked.

Leaving the location field blank on the other hand, doesn't work. It specifically asks to type in a location.

Cheers
