Travel Forums Africa and The Middle East Study Arabic Language abroad

I'm looking to go abroad in a few months to study Arabic while exploring at the same time. I'm not a total beginner but I'm not an expert either. I've found a couple of sites from googling but can't tell if they are good/fun/reputable or not. Could anyone recommend me somewhere to this sort of thing?

The ones I found are:

Damascus
Egypt

Well through research I've got it down to Cairo or Damascus, could someone recommend a good place to learn in either?

The link you gave for Damascus is one of the most reknowned institutes in the Arabic world. The University of Damascus has been teaching Arabic to foreigners for since the 1950's, always at a high standard. I don't think you can go wrong with them. The only problem that I had with their program was that it was usually for a full year and attendance of lessons was mandatory, did that change?

I don't know the second link.
