Hi folks,

sorry about the general question i'm about to ask. I'd like to know the cost of things in general in south america, by this i mean, prices of hostels, bus journeys, food and trips booked within the continent. Is is cheap throughout the continent? i'm planning to visit for three months in december 09 and would like to visit brazil, argentina and chile (patagonia), peru and Ecuador.

thanks,

finny

Like you said, It is a broad question. EVery contry is going to be different, even every city.
I know in Ecuador Things were very cheap (compared to the US). Guayaquil was really cheap and Quito wasn't much higher.

As far as prices for all the things you listed check out Lonley Planet.

Pura Vida,

ice

Brazil is the most expensive. Argentina and Chile are about the same. A great meal in Argentina will cost you about 8 -15 usd. have a look at my blog. I documented most of my trip down there. http://playnowworklater.travellerspoint.com/
