Money question

Travel Forums Asia Money question

1. Posted by figurine (Budding Member 16 posts) 7y

I'm planning currently on flying to Bangkok then travelling to Siem Reap/Phnom Phenh where I'm hoping to spend about 4 weeks doing volunteer work. I then plan on travelling from Cambodia up through Vietnam into Laos and then back to Bangkok before flying home, and I hope to spend about 6 weeks doing so. Roughly how much money would I need for all this, I do plan on staying in cheap hostels etc but would still like to do some activities.
Thanks

30 US dollars a day with a bit set aside for "splurges" like the expensive trek up the mountains/a diving course is a good bet. Normally this gets you a single room, sometimes with small luxuries like hot water and even TV (in Vietnam/Cambodia), 3 decent meals a day with the occasional restaurant treat, basic transport (trains and hired taxis are much more expensive), some shopping - small souvenirs, most entrance tickets (except Angkor, of course). I find this to be a comfortable amount per day for me and try to budget around that for my trips around Southeast Asia with some extra money for "splurges"

For thailand its not that expensive.
Do your research well and try to get urself into Khaosarn road. Thats the place to be in with rooms availble at 4 dollars per night. Hope that is not expensive.
Cheers

Traveling from the south to the north of Vietnam is quite cheap, it's 31 GBP for a 2 1/2 day train journey, give that a good look at.

When are you planning to travel?
