Will the hostel INCREASE their rates for the spring festival...

I am planning to go to Hangzhou and Shanghai and beyond. I am hoping its still 50 rmb and below.

well the locals don't go to the big cities right? and they won't be staying in hostels... so I hope the hostels don't increase their rates. BUT THE TOURIST towns do... will shanghai and hangzhou do the same?

not very clear with the hostel, but for the normal resterant, the price will be increased during new spring day since more and more people like to travel during these time.

I think you could find accomodation below 50RMB per night in Shanghai, but it is very frugal budget though. If you really find one having a good facility, I think probably student hotel is a better choice. Holiday seasons are always popular and then some owners will increase price for more income. -snip-

Usually, the hotels will increase the room rate in the busy seasons. It is better to check beforehand. For example, usually the reservation center can give the room rate two months before you check in.
