Quoting suzieA.

how many photos can you store on 250 mb?

It depends on the camera make, the resolution setting, and the type of file you have chosen. Check your instruction manual. There should be a table giving you approximate sizes.

250mb is big...
i guess if the photos were to be emailed then maybe anything less than a 2 m/pixel would be all good?

I use yahoo\photos, to store mines... It's free, has lots of free storage space, and I know you can order prints (I never used that service, tho...)
cheers!

250mb should fit between 150 and 3030 pictures depending on the size and quality you choose. My personal prefrence is small pictures (640) with medium detail (just over 1500 pictures in 250mb).

I've got a simular question, I'm wanting to upload pictures to my own webspace, does anyone know of any good, customisable PHP powered photo galleries?

this is probably one of the best open source PHP photo galleries available. it has lots of options (slideshow, online watermarking and more) and can be quite easily be customised using CSS and Html header and footer files to. Check the requirements (PHP, NetPBM, apache) on the site to see if its compatible with your set-up (I think there is also a program for that somewhere)

On the large end a 1MB picture..is 250 photos..if they are a lower resolution, you can fit more:)
I like Flickr...easy layout, easy directions (for us computer illiterate;) )

Hi RemGo

I followed your link to ImageShack. The site looks simple enough to use.

I'm just in the process of sorting out & scanning hardcopy travel pix from various countries. I'll be able to upload some to TravellersPoint, and many Chinese pix to a dedicated Chinese site. There is going to be a definite overflow of other pix, so ImageShack could be the answer for them.
+
BTW I already have my own webpage through Lycos.Tripod, however I can't access it from China due to the national browser settings. I'm considering building another webpage.

Can you suggest any free easy-to-use websites? (Not interested in geocities)

Cheers
