Not sure about the travel costs as I normally fly into Madrid and drive from there. As for city recommendations, that would depend on where you were starting from and the time of year. Cities that are worth visiting all year round are Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba, Valencia, Toledo, Segovia, and Avila. The last three are good day trips from Madrid. Other cities that are worth visiting when the weather is warmer are Malaga, Alicante, Castello, and Palma. The northwest area of Spain (from Vigo around to San Sebastian) is also a great area to visit in warmer weather. Good luck with your travels.

The cheapest way to travel from Lisbon to Seville is by bus.

ALSA run a twice daily service taking 8 hours 45 minutes and costing Euro 48 one way. See www.alsa.es for full details.

There is a slightly cheaper option run by EVA but this means changing buses in Faro and you may end up having to spend the night there if bus times don´t coincide. Bus from Lisbon to Faro takes 3 hours 15 minutes and costs Eur 19, the bus from Faro to Seville takes 4 hours 40 minutes and costs Euro 16. See www.eva-bus.com for details.

As for cities to see, for me Malaga is a must. A fascinating city with spectacular architecture, culture +++, great traditional restaurants and Tapas Bars, wonderful shopping and beaches right in the city centre. Better weather than Madrid and Barcelona too out of season and the nicest people you will meet anywhere.

Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any further help.

I still miss Salamanca, Cuenca (possible as daytrip from Madrid), Cadiz and Santiago.

But the more classical Spanish trip would be Madrid - Cordoba - Sevilla - Granada - Barcelona.

If you can add Lagos to your trip, you can use the bus that casaianda suggested, and use either bus or train to make it to Lagos.

Don´t really agree with malaga as a must see.

It is interesting and fun, but as a tourist wishing to see Southern spain in all it's glory, I would have to say Granada, Seville, Cordoba for a quick visit and Cadiz for pure romance of decaying beauty, are much better choices.

There are flights from Lisbon to Seville, which will be much quicker. See other thread nearby.
