vix has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

Late Dec/early Jan my friend and I will spend 4 hectic days in bangkok...the question is where next? Ideally we'll want to get an internal flight to somewhere in the south which will have lovely beaches with nice guesthouses/ bungalows whatever...

any idea's folks?
thanks vix.

Hi Vix,

I went to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan on Thailand's Gulf Coast earlier this year and you have it all there - beautiful beaches, lively bars, cheap bungalows etc etc. Internal flights from BK to Samui are about £30/2000baht on Bangkok Airways website.

I would strongly recommend Had Yuan, a beach near to Had Rin on Koh Phangan - just a short taxi boat ride from Had Rin beach. Really nice and quiet but so close to all the action and the famous full moon parties.

Hope that helps.

If you really wish to relax in a peacful beach...why don't you consider Ngai island..a small isolated island in Trang Province.

You can take a direct flight from Bagnkok to Trang. I suggest you to over night in town for the first night and enjoy grilled pork..it's a famous food here. iAnd then take a ride to Had Yao pier the next morning. You can charter a long tail boat to visit Emerald cave( here , you have to swim through the dark cave until you see the ligth inside and you will find white sandy beach with emerald color sea inside ) , snorkelling in Koh Cheuk , Koh Mah , Koh Wan. The boat may charge you around Baht 1,000 full day..i think. You can ask the man to drop you at the island.

The bungalow is nice and quiet. Not crowded at all. It seems like private island ( this is in May 2004 that I visited ). By the way, since it's a small island so limited facilities.
