Which guest house/hostel is nice cheap good in KL /Penang?

Hi all, i will be going to malaysia on 19th jan 2009,stopping in KL first,and work my way up to bangkok.See how it goes.So i am looking for some guest house/hostel in KL/ Penang which is nice cheap good?I don't mind if there is some cheap good QUIET female dorm too.Hehe.

If you are just passing through Penang because of the train depot in Butterworth here is a hotel that is not too far from that train station. I think the price of a room here was 50 ringgits. Name of the hotel - no kidding - is the P.P. Hotel (SDN. BHD.)

From the train station it was almost a straight shot up the road except for the round-about in the way. Hotel was on the right side, down a side street a little. You pass a Malay restaurant and Seven Eleven store on the right side, car dealership on left - look right and you will see a yellow sign that has PP Hotel on it. At the hotel look out the window and see if you have a balcony with a light, it will be on all night long! Rooms were okay for the price, had A/C and hot water but the tv only had local channels. Malay restaurant was okay.

A price of 50 ringgits is around $14 US. When I stayed in the Penang area I used a couple cheap hotels but I think the price would be the same or most likely higher - but with better value though! They were the Waldorf and Hotel Continental, both not too far apart and in the area favored by back packers. Both had "all you can eat" breakfast buffets at that time.
