Ok, you get you ticket - it's Rio (Sunshine, Summertime warmth, Beach's - escape the london cold), pack in advance for once,
taxi it to the airport, check in on time and jump onto the plane.
Only to find out when you get to the other end there is a error with the paperwork (cheers the office) your thrown in a holding area for 10hrs and put on a flight back. no food, no showers, no entertainment just what you have in your hand luggage

Starting time 17:15 Tuesday
End of trip 15:50 Thursday
Airports: 3
Federal police interviewing: 5
Aircraft: 4
Total milage: 19700km
Time spend outside: Nil
Sleep: Nil

For everything else - a sence of humour required
This is longest trip to nowhere, what's yours?

Geez Jase, maybe the Brazilian authorities found out about your attempt at a Brazilian wax job.........shouldn't keep the willy hanging out in customs....

Longest trip to nowhere? Chicago, 2 hours on the highway, to see the family.....

Ah, yes. The wonders of fruitless long journeys, detention and returns due to ballsed up paperw*rk from the office.

Haven't had a bad one for a coupe of years, but once managed to essentially lose 3weeks due to such an experience (long trip, even longer stint in limbo-holding detention and then return jny). Such fun.

So, Jase, when are you going back to Rio?

It's your fate you have to spend the winter in the cold. Don't deny it! Buy good boots and settle in.

Heading back at the end of the month until march time.

How's thing going?

I narrowly avoided a similar incident in Brazil not two months ago. I was flying to Brazil and had my ticket for the next morning. I was pissing around and thought I would look into what kind of entry visa fee I would have to pay when I got there.....That was when I discovered that I had to go to a consulate, pay and exorbitant fee, and wait three days or something. I immediately got on the phone and changed my ticket to Chile, and it didn't cost me a cent. But avoided the same waiting game and waste of money and time simply by flukey accident.

Brazil has gotten a name for itself being sticky and difficult with Western tourists. I now plan NOT to go there ever...which makes me sad. I covet the Brazilian woman and the Brazilian bikini

In short, I am sorry that this happened to you, but thank my lucky stars that it wasn't me.

What makes this funnier, Derek - Jase had been there on business for weeks already. He'd only gone back to the UK to spend Christmas with family. He was headed back to Rio to continue his work and his employer screws up the paperwork. Guess they really didn't want him to see his (hot) personal assistant, personal maid and personal driver again. At least he got his passport back.

Yeah, so does Jase. Now he's stuck in "fucking cold" Surrey until the end of the month.

No, honestly J, I feel your pain. No beach or pool time for another couple of weeks.

Nice, so you get another couple of miserable weeks in blighty first.

All pretty good here, cheers, except i'm rapidly turning into a fat fooker after being constantly stuffed with food and booze by assorted locals.
