Hi all fellow travellers!
We are 2 adults (30 years), and one child (7 years). We're currently travelling around in Asia, and right now we're in Bali. On wednesday we're flying to Singapore, and we're staying there for 3 days, after that, we'll fly up to Penang, and will be staying in that region for 12-13 days.

We're wondering if you have any tips on "ok" hotels in Georgetown and maybe Langkawi? When I say "ok", I mean rooms with air-condition, 2/3 beds and shower/toilet in the room. A swimming pool would also be great!
I'm searching online, but the internet connection here is crap! So I'm hoping that someone here could give us some tips on hotels to check :)

We're also glad for tips on things we shouldn't be missing out on while we're in the Penang region!

Thanks! :)

Svein Erik, Monica & Emilie :)

I used these two hotels around 6 years ago in Penang.
Hotel Continental on 5 Penang Road and the Waldorf Hotel on 13 Leith Street.

They were okay for me, both had air. They also had "all you can eat" breakfast buffets at that time. In this area there backpackers often start their visit to Penang.

I did stay in a hotel near the train station at Butterworth. That hotel had air, hot water, private toilet and cheapest room started around 50 ringgets. But - this is not a touristy area. It didn't seem dangerous or anything but it was mostly locals around.
Name of the hotel was the P.P. Hotel located at 20 Jalan Kampung Jawa, 12000 Butterworth. The hotel was almost a straight shot up from the front side of the train station, as the crow flies. Pass a Seven Eleven and Malay restaurant on the right, car dealership on the left. Look right down a small street and see a yellow sign with PP Hotel on it.

Good luck.
