how to get from Phnom Penh to Phuket

hi,
im just in the planning stages at the moment of my round the world trip, we are going to SE Asia for about 6 weeks. i know this isnt a lot of time, so im just wondering what is the best way to get from phonm penh to phuket? there seems to be no direct flights, as they all seem to go through bangkok, is there any other way to get there as we aren't too keen to stop in bangkok as we have already been there.

I checked all the discount airlines that server PNH and could not find a direct flight either. There is not enough demand to HKT from PNH to justify service. You will have to fly into BKK or KUL.

If money is a concern, you can go overland from either Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville to BKK or Pattaya in one long day. I did this in April for about $20. One of my blog entries covers this trip. Certainly an adventure!

There are no direct flights for this route, but would recommend heading to Bangkok and then making your way down to Phuket. You can do both sections by air if you wish, although cheaper options are available to go overland.

from what i have heard you will enjoy pattaya especially if you a single and male.
