Jaisalmer desert/camel tours???

Hi guys,
Has anyone done a camel tour in Jaisalmer into the desert/sand dunes? Iv'e been looking into it and it looks awesome, wondering if anyone has any first hand experience to share?
Also can the tours be booked easy enough from Jaislamer? Anyone have any ideas of average prices you'll be paying for x number of nights?

There are a number of agencies in Jaisalmer that offer tours. I did it via my hotel (Anurag as I remember). I did a five day safari and it was 500 rupees per day in 2003.

Nice to read about your intrest in desert visit Rajasthan; there is choice of places in Rajasthan for desert tour, the most travelers know through guide book is Jaisalmer and is of course very very popular and famous, bcoz is famous is comercial and there are every corner, hotel,travel agency even a tea shop can book you a desert trip. for you intrest if one want to do desert trip with an exeprience then jaisalmer is not a best place. Desert in India call THAR great Indian desert is not alike Sahara, this desert is totaly living desert, there are not just sand and sand; in Indian desert there are lot of people living and lot of cities, towns and also vegitation(trees,scubs and animals wild and domestic).
To exeprience this desert you can choose a place where you can visit a desert traditional way of living and try local food(is safe)and wild life too, camel is mode of tranport in this reasion so call 'Camel Safari' . For all this jaisalmer is not a perfect you can go for a place call Osian and around osian there are some small small nice villages that offers great desert living sowcase and one can stay overnight at desert home(local community run home stay -snip-
Or other option is Bikaner for less famous safari tourism.
osian has also great old temples date back to 12centuary Jain and Hindu temple made of red sand stones, is olny 40miles north west of Jodhpur city. Jodhpur is well conected with road,rail and flights from all india.
