A few years ago, as a tourist, I got my insurance through trailfinders.

I think things you need to look into are how and when the insurance company pay out.

I got hospitalised for one night and when it came to paying my bill, I made one phone call to the insurers who then arranged to pay the bill - less my excess - straight to the hospital.

This is INCREDIBLY useful if you get a large medical expense - if you have to pay and then re-claim it you could end up with no money left for your holiday....or worse still to pay the bill. They also made a few other calls on my behalf

Having insurance will also affect which hospital you get taken to....this can mean a big difference in Thailand. - find out which hospitals take your insurance...

Also some of the "best" hospitals rely on insurance companies pay the bill for all sorts of unjustified/unnecessary treatments, so be careful!
