Rach-a has indicated that this thread is about Chile

Just wondering if anyone can give me advice on the following: -

Any good nightspots such as traditional (salsa, guitar etc.), jazz or rock music venues anywhere in Chile. I am not too much into dance music but am into trendy bars and clubs also as well as live venues and traditional / local spots

I am also interested in doing a wine tour in Chile as well as trekking in Patagonia so if anyone has information on this also I would be grateful I am travelling there for a couple of months in December.

Also with regards to Christmas time and New Years Eve - are there any decent nightspots to go to and does accommodation and / or nightclubs need to be booked in advance

I am travelling alone so far and so any advice whatsoever on anything is appreciated. As well as all this, I am going to try to learn to surf - is Pichelemu the spot for learner surfers and are there any budget accommodations there

Many thanks in advance for any answers given

I did the Concha y Toro winery tour. It's just outside Santiago. Details at this website: They recommend reservations, but if you are a small group (1-2 people, they can usually just squeeze you into one of the tours).

You can get there using public transit, which is nice. Go to the Bellavista station on the subway, and then grab the number 80 bus.

if you are in Santiago, try to cross to Mendoza where you can visit the most famous wineries in Argentina. Everything is organized under the "way to the wine" way and it is really worth doing the 7 tours and visiting all the areas.
lots of luck in Chile, nice country

Hi Rachael,

There are massive fireworks in Valparaíso and Viña del Mar every New Year's Eve and people party until next morning afterwards. You better book a place in advance if you planning to stay around. Same thing with most of tourist places as holiday season starts on Jan 1st.

Pichilemu is a very popular place for surfers in Central Chile. Anyway you'll find many other spots along the coast.

Anything I can help you with do not hesitate to email me.

Take care.
