Germany or Austria

I need help deciding if I should spend one week in Austria or Germany, because they both seem amazing. In Germany I would be in the southern part, going to Munich and the castles near Fussen, maybe the Black Forest, or Rothenburg. In Austria I would go to Salzburg and Vienna. For anyone that has been to those places, which trip would be more memorable? Thanks.

We've been having the exact same issues deciding for our honeymoon! We decided to extend the trip to 10 days and we're doing a split, since Salzburg is so close to Munich. I've done tons of research on the area and from what I've seen, I don't think that you could go wrong with either pick. You could, of course, decide to stay in Bavaria and do a day trip or one or two nights in Salzburg. Hopefully, you'll get some good info on here, as this forum has been helpful in our planning. 7 days is a really short amount of time, I spent 5 days in Vienna last summer and only scratched the surface. Since travelling time is about 4-5 hours by train between the two cities you loose a whole day by moving, so you'd have to split 3-4 days Vienna and 2-3 days Salzburg, adding in the Danube Valley (Melk) for one day.

If you want to do the whole tour (Frankfurt-Rothenburg-Regensburg-Munich-Füssen-Salzburg-Vienna) I would recommend that you plan on spending about 2 weeks there. (No Black Forest, that is a bit of a detour when heading from Germany to Austria.)
