Things to do in Zurich, Venice, Florence, Rome????

Hi All!
I am planning a trip from Amsterdam-Zurich -Venice-Florence-Rome. But since this is my first trip in Europe I do not know what all are the things to do and to see in these cities. It would be great if anyone could suggest the duration of stay in these cities and the things to do for them.

Have only been to Venice out of your list of cities. I spent 5 nights there last October & thought it was a bit long - & we took a day trip to Verona aswell!! We obviously saw St. Marks Square, took the trip around Doge's Palace, crossed Riatlo Bridge, visited the Academia (Art Gallery), went to a Vivaldi concert. Everything is gorgeous but I think 3 nights here would be plenty.

Zurich (Don't know, I went to Bern instead.)
Venice 1-3 days
Florence 4-8 days
Rome 4-8 days.
