Hi I'm just interested to see what peoples opinions on travelling with your mobile are.
Last trip I took I had my pre-paid UK mobile with me and it ran out halfway through and I therefore couldn't get in contact with anybody, which wasn't a problem for me but my parents did get a little annoyed.
This summer I am going arund europe by van for 90 days, does anyone have any opinions on what I should do about my Phone???
At this stage I'm thinking about just throwing it away and having the freedom of not being contactable except by email, which again will present a problem for keeping in contact with family.
Take your phone, you never know when you may need it in an emergency.
Why don't you buy a European or international sim card, there are loads around, they are cheap and you can pick up top up cards almost anywhere. Much cheaper than using your standard UK sim card.

Thanks, Can you get a sim card that is valid for the whole of Europe?? or do you need to keep changing everytime you go to a different country?
Well, your UK sim card works in the others European countries, and it's just the same for the others: if you'll buy a French sim card, for example, it will probalby work in Germany as well, but you'll pay a lot to call and to receive calls. so the chapest way to be contactable would be to by a sim card in each country - even though it quite annoying -, anyway I wouldn't call with the cellular phone, I'd use a pre-paid card - they use to be much cheaper.
Take a look at the O2 International sim. Top up £15 a month and get 100 mins free international calls, card is free.
Or Go Sim do a european package.
Google european sim and there are tons!
Check your phone is unlocked though.
