Far too many people are posting and saying 'how much should I take to so and so' and not saying how they intend to travel or where they might want to stay etc.
I know what you all mean and can only echo some of the sentiments above. I try and pick my battles when it comes to questions and a lot depends on my mood, how much time I think I have etc. etc. There are some specific questions like the 'how much should I take' that could theoretically also be minimized somewhat by taking the best answers and sticking them in the relevant wiki guide. Then we can use that as a reference when the next person comes along and so on. For example, you could make some general headings (Budget/Mid Range/Luxury) under a main heading of 'Cost of Travelling' for each country (don't take those headings literally, just coming up with them now). Naturally it wouldn't be perfect, but a lot of the answers also have similar "it depends on the tours you take" comments in them. Really no way to get around that I think. What it would allow you to do though would be to say "okay x days in Australia at mid range + x days in Fiji luxury = total cost". Now this could be quite inaccurate of course, but I think over time the prices per day would be pretty realistic in general. No less realistic than getting an answer on the forum for sure!
What do you think? Would that be helpful or just create more frustration when people don't look in the wikis to get the numbers?
