depends how long your going for. But I think £50 a day is the considered normal rate for living in Australia. Thats assuming your staying in hostels and cooking your own food.
Clearly if you smoke or drink 10 pints every night then yuor going to spend more.
Hope this helps a little.
I'm going for 12 months and I've saved up 8000 GBP and plan on working
Was thinking about £5/6000 about $11k AUD to go with and look for a job straight away not sure if this is enough but id rather just get out there as soon as possible really! My mates in Melbourne so can stay there for a bit until i get myself sorted. Looking for to go for 12 months and if I enjoy it there Ill go fruit picking towards the end of my visa and try and extend it or go to New Zealand havn't decided yet.
I have plans to go later this year to Sydney.
Where will you be traveling to besides Melbourne? It sounds similar to what I am doing. I am applying for the WH Visa and living outside Sydney for 12 months.

When you say 'fruit picking' to extend your visa...
Does that actually extend it or am i just being a complete dumb ass! hahahaha![]()
If you do 3 months fruit picking and get the proof, it gives you the eligibility to apply for a 2nd working holiday visa as long as you still meet the age requirements. You can apply for the 2nd visa either in Australia before your current WHV expires, and therefore stay for up to 2 straight years - or you can apply at a later date and return (as long as you still meet age requirements as I said before).
On the 2nd visa, last I knew, the 6-month limit for working with one company is reset.
Hi
I am Ruth & i am also plaining for travel.
You'd be surprised that Australia is pretty easy to live in money wise, I mean nowhere in comparison to Asia but compared to Europe/U.K.
5000 pounds saved as well as working and you'll be laughing.
Aussies that travel through Europe take considerably less than that and get by for a few months without earning even a little bit of income.
