thailand info

hi, i would really appreciate some info as im going to thailad imbetween xmas and new year and wanted to know how to plan my route..i do know i want to go bangkok/changmai/koh samui/koh panghan and krabi, but in what order im not sure, can anyone help, much thanks, Ali

So, you arrive to Bangkok from your country, spend several days. Then you can fly to ChiangMai. Then fly to Koh Samui (via Bangkok). From Koh Samui take a boat to Koh Phangan. After that, take boat to mainland and cross Malacca penisula by ground to reach Krabi. And finally, fly from Krabi back to Bangkok.
In my opinion, this is very hard schedule for 2 week holiday. I suggest you opt out Krabi. In this case you can return to Bangkok from Koh Phangan either via Koh Samui (flight) or overland (via Surat Tani).
But if you have enough time, you can do it all

How long is this holiday going to last? If your time is short I would drop off Koh Phangan and Krabi. If your time is short you might want to actually see some of the places you are visiting instead of spending a lot of time in airports.

Staying in Bangkok for a few days at the beginning of your trip and at least one final night before you leave for home is a good idea. You will be traveling at the most expensive time of year and the most crowded time of year.

I don't know if you are young or old but Koh Phangan will have a lot of really young kids getting wasted on booze and dope. There will be some old leftover hippie types there too, usually they are after the young teenage boys.

If you want to see Bangkok, I would suggest Bangkok, Chaing Mai and Koh Samui OR Krabi...but not both. If you don't want to see Bangkok you might be able to fit it all in but you might be rushed and will spend a lot of time flying and enroute.

Another option is to find out about flying into Chaing Mai and out of Phuket. You could fly into Chaing Mai, travel by air or over night train to Bangkok, onto Koh Samui, over to Krabi and out of Phuket. That way you are going from top to bottom and not a lot of flight backtracking back and forth.
