Well i don't know much about it, but i do know that you can't pass from panama to colombia due to a dense jungle. I dunno if there are ferries or not, but you'll have to look into it.

Dense jungle, no... Its the kidnappers in the darien gap. You need to find a cargo ship to send to equador. No idea of any website though

This is something I've dreamed of for a while... Here's an excerpt from someone else's blog that I caught a while back.

A note of interest. Based on reports from previous travellers, we had budgeted up to Cdn $5000 for the Darien Gap crossing (with the possibility of having to ship by container). We were extremely fortunate, therefore, to be able to ship the van with NYK for only US$250, plus $105 for agents fees. Compared to the cost of flying to Quito - US$760 plus $52 airport tax (for the two of us) - we felt that the shipping was an extremely good deal.

I am guessing the NYK reffered to is the shipping company NYK Lines. try www.nykline.com for them. Apologies if I'm wrong here.

Other than the Darien Gap... The jungle between Panama and Colombia... It's a fairly straightforward drive... As straightforward as driving across multiple international borders can be anyways.

Check out any of the many websites around detailing the Pan AM highway. If you are going to Brazil though, you might be best off shipping from Panama to Venezuala rather than Ecuador...

If you google around a bit you'll find more/better info than I can give at the moment.

Good Luck.

I forgot to quote the guy about NYK but that info is way outdated check out the post just like this one Driving to South America just below (or above).
If you have more questions please post again or send me a pm as I have done a great deal of research into this and am leaving to drive the contenent in 3 weeks.
