Ko Tao vs. Ko Lanta?!

Hello,

My husband and I are currently in Ko Tao and we're staying at Char Bungalows at Sai Nuan Bay (south-west Ko Tao). We spent our first day at the lovely Sai Nuan 2 beach (at Sai Thong Resort) which was beautiful. We had originally planned to move onto Ko Lanta after a few days but are now considering staying on here instead.

Does Ko Lanta offer anything that we can't find here? We like small quiet beaches with good snorkelling and some kayaking. We're not too fussed about nightlife.

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

Hiya

I spent a week in ko lanta earlier on the month and loved every second of it. Beach huts/ resorts are located all the way down the west coast to suit every budget. The third beach khlong kong beach is quieter than the first 2.. I found myself on a couple of days to be the only person on the beach. The further south you go the quieter and less touristy it gets. Snorkelling and islands tours are available on a daily basis. In the north there are mangroves…etc for boat/ kayaking excursions…

The main pier/ Saladin has a small night market and a number of thai seafood restaurants. The feeling good bar, ting ting and chocolate bar on the khlong kong beach play good music and seem to attract a crowd most nights.

I have never been to ko tao so I cant compare, but would strongly recommend lanta if youre looking for a quiet place just to chilax!

if you are into diving the place not to be missed in KoTao
is Hin Kaew or White Rock which is a unique site located south-west to Ko Nang Yuan and contains two large under water granite boulders with amazing coral garden and schools of butterfly fish and angelfish. there are more sucbba sites and if you want to hear about them go to http://www.trekcafe.com/Travel-Destinations/?action=TH they've got a list

Thanks for your responses we are thinking of staying put in Koh Tao for now. We have found a real gem of a place and are slipping into beach life....
