Have been searching the web but found it no help! can someone please advise me of the entry requirements for India or message me a good link,
- on arrival or before i get there
- do i need an onward ticket
Im a uk citizen but not in the uk, as im in OZ does this disturb the process?
Thanks in advance :-)
For more information see the Indian High Commission's website in Australia for more info.
You will need to get a visa in advance and you will need to show an onward ticket because you are applying outside your country of residence. Again because you are outside the UK, the visa application takes longer probably about 6-7 days as the Consul contact the UK to check you aren't a criminal!
Check out the link and follow all the instructions given in the forms and on the website. Indian embassies are known for bureaucracy and if you forget one thing then your visa is refused.
The cost is around 50 USD, valid for 6 months and you get a 6 month visa, single entry. You have to get the visa before arrival. It would be best if you had a return ticket, but they do make exceptions if you don't have the onward ticket, so you could try your luck - for me it was a very straightforward process - fill form, pay money, and come back 3 days later to collect the visa. I think each embassy deals with the "rules" differently - there are some that are known to be more lenient than others, you could ask around. Good luck - i don't think it will be too much of a hassle
Thankyou very much for all that info! It was really helpful and I found exactly what I was looking for! :-)
