Connecting flights in Kuala Lumpur

Travel Forums Asia Connecting flights in Kuala Lumpur

Hello,

We have a connecting flight in Kuala Lumpur to India with Air Asia. Since it is with Air Asia we can go land-side and head into the city.

We arrive at the LCC terminal at 1505 and fly the next morning at 0740. We are planning to stay overnight at the airport (we can't really afford to stay overnight in KL).

We would like if possible to head into KL to sample what the city has to offer albeit in a few hours! Are there any restaurants (for cheap traditional Malaysian fare) or sights one could recommend for such a fleeting visit?

What is the best/cheapest way to get from the LCC terminal to KL city? I have heard it can take up to 1.5 hrs to get into the city.

Thanks very much,

Cheekyvee.

Take the Skybus, it's run by Air Asia and costs MYR9 to get into the centre of KL. The bus will depart from outside the arrivals area and take you to KL Sentral train station. When returning to the airport you can get the bus back from KL Sentral again. It's a big red bus - you can't miss it!

Depending on when you will be going Tune hotels is about to open a new hotel at LCCT at the beginning of April. We have booked a room there (as we are in a similar situation with an early flight) and it cost us MYR50 with air con.

There are some good restaurants around Bukit Bintang are which do a fantastic Hainan chicken rice and Malay food. The food court at Suria KLCC shopping centre is also quite good for food as is Pavillion shopping centre food court in Bukit Bintang area.

2 bus companies operate from airport to kl sentral. When you get into kl sentral cross over to the monorail and catch a train to bukit bintang (2.20 ringet each). Bukit bintang is full of shops, food places, massage…etc the last bus to the airport is around 10ish I think

Yes, bus is the best way. There are two bus companies that serve the LCCT-Kuala Lumpur route. Make sure you pick the Skybus (red bus), as the other company (yellow bus) is known to be not punctual with their schedule. Refer to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport guide for more information about the airport.

Yes, the yellow bus is only 8 ringgit. But I've read letters to a major Malaysian English daily complaining about them being not punctual (the yellow bus waited until it's full to depart) and almost caused the complainants to miss the check-in time. Maybe they've improved, or maybe those were just isolated cases.

Anyway, my experiences with Skybus before I left Malaysia over a year ago had been great. They'd always been punctual, and I certainly would not want to risk any possible delays with the yellow bus if there's not enough time to spare!

By the way, Skybus is not operated by AirAsia, but they are affiliates in some way and AirAsia has some kind of influence over the quality and operations of Skybus.

I thought it was operated by Air Asia...we have just booked some flights to KL and got the option of booking the Skybus for MYR6 each when booking the flights, a pretty good discount! We have got the Skybus several times and it's always been punctual.

Wow, Hien - over a year in the UK, congratulations!
