ok guys i put post up of my plan recently but i've kinda changed it now.

what i really need is a bit of advice on when to visit the countries that i have in mind and for roughly how long?

basically im looking to go in the first months of 2010 with my Gf and we are looking to go for roughly 7 months to fit everything in.

so heres the rough plan:

South Africa---3weeks
Thailand---2 Weeks only 2 weeks as i have spent a lot of time here before but my gf wants to see the north
Vietnam--- 2 Weeks
OZ---2 Months
NZ---3 Weeks
Central USA---2 Months
South America ---1 Month to do inca trail down in peru and also see some other places like belize on the way down possibly

if anyone has any advice on if the times i have put seem right or need longer in some places then please please let us know.

also we should have over £10,000 between us to take for hostels/hotels food and activities how does that also sound?

I think that the 2 weeks in Vietnam would be rushing it a lot and you would be much better adding another 2 weeks on so that you could see both Vietnam and Cambodia. If you are not in any mad dash to get back home I would really consider adding another month on to the South America part of the trip because the continent has so much to offer and some of the most outstanding sites in the world are found in Patagonian Chile/Argentina which you definitely wouldn't have time to see in your allocated time frame for South America. Two months is still a short visit but at least will allow you to see enough to make you want to go back there again the next time you go on an adventure.

Your money sounds alright for the length of time as long as you don't go over the top in Australia, NZ and USA where basic living expenses can be a bit expensive.

I definitely agree with adding an extra 2 weeks on to Vietnam/Cambodia. Only two weeks there would mean you would spend more time travelling between places than actually seeing anything. I also really liked Cambodia - we only had a week there but that was enough time to visit Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. If you only could allocate 2 weeks to Vietnam it might be better to only do the north or the south, rather than trying to rush through both.
