That's a very broad question, but I'll try and start.

In general, the summer in the norther hemisphere (North America, Europe) is from May to September. This time days are longest and temperatures are nice. July and August are highseason months in US/Canada and Europe. But in general May/June is actually better, with longer days, more sunshine/less rain, and fewer crowds.
This also applies to countries like China, Korea (north and south) and Japan.

Australia/New Zealand has summer from November to March, with half December to early February being the peak season regarding temperatures and crowds. This generally applies to Southern Africa and Southern South America as well. All the areas in the southern hemisphere usually have some time off around July as well for a winterbreak or so.

For both continents though, winter ski season is the other way around: so December to March for Europe/North America/Japan, June to September for Oz/Nz.

Well, and then there is everything in between, generally speaking the tropics, including the deserts. It all depends on the rainy season and/or hot season. For example India is good from November to February, but worse from April to September. Except for the Himalayan areas (Ladakh).

You see, it gets confusing but to add, here are months with possible good destinations:
January: Thailand, India, New Zealand, Chile
February: Australia, Brazil, East Africa, Middle East
March: Australia, Caribbean, Central America
April: Greenland, Japan
May: China, Japan, Southern Africa
June: Europe/North America, Southern Africa
July/August: stay at home
September: Europe/North America
October: China, Japan
November: Middle East, Caribbean, Central America
December: East Africa, India

I don't really care for helping you with your "hotel portal", but it's an interesting question the answer to which might help other people, and we happen to just actually have some quantifiable data which we put online a couple of weeks ago.
trends - they're split up by month in the sidebar, so you can for example see that Europe is totally happening in June.

Numbers for individual cities are too low to be statistically significant, but the overall distribution isn't.
