firstly why does it take one year to get a tourist visa???.....that too for a place like europe.....i mean this sounds blasphemous, insane.....is this normal routine in china.....if it is then it is quite sad.....this process takes three working days (or even less) in mumbai...i thought things would be the same in china as well...

It could take upto a year (on the save side). I know someone from Pakistan who came over but he was invited by a local. The entire procedure took 3 months.

I am not Chinese. So I assume I'll get it in 6 months. If I still care.

Schengen visa is hard to get for a Philippino, you should plan on 4 months at least. As a backpacker it will be best if you find somebody to write you an invitation (declaration of liability). This should be a friend or relative of yours, you will not have much luck finding somebody through the internet. It can cost a significant amount of money to invite somebody, people are not willing to do this for total strangers. (If I invite somebody I must pay a deposit of 1500 EUR.)

One way to get a Schengen visa would be to sign up on Couchsurfing and to offer your Couch to visitors. With luck you meet somebody who can invite you this way.

I have a German friend, who might go home this september. I just have to be extra nice to him. LOL!

Can I tell the embassy that my accomodations is from counch surfing and I dont make hotel bookings. Well, definitely, I wont be able to afford hostel accomodations, so I will be staying with friends. I have a list already.
