Hi fellow travellers!
I'm Denisa and i'm 24. I orginally come from Serbia, but was raised in Denmark and now currently live in London! Phew, that was a mouthful!
Anyway, my passion is travelling and any opportunity i have, i go! I have travelled alone before, but as it seems with most people...when it comes to south america, things can be kind of scary! I've read all these "safety precautions" on the net about being alone in brazil, especially if u are female!
so, i was wondering if anyone will be in brazil around that time? I will start off in sao paulo on the 1st of may until the 7th, where then i will fly to rio until the 16th and then fly back to sao paulo to catch my flight back to london the following day.
If anyone feels like they would like to join a very relaxed, always up for a beer kind of girl to explore the brazilian beauty, then please feel free to drop me a note or thread...or however it is done here - this is my first time writing in a travelling forum!
Alternatively, I would appreciate any tips/advice about going to brazil alone! (A big thank you in advance & it's much appreciated!)
I'm hoping that most of the stuff I read is just media hype.....:0
Safe travels everyone!!
I’m Hans am 26 and from Norway ;p
I am also thinking about traveling to Brazil, but not until this fall, maybe october. Was thinking about going there witn a one way ticket...hehe
Been working for like three years after I finnished university degree, and am longing for a long vecation in a a hot place
But I’we talked to other people, and they say it’s actually a very nice country, as long as u use common sence....
nice to meet a fellow scandinavian here! Thank you for writing!
And yeah i would love to go to brazil with a one way ticket.....but i dont think my boss would be too happy! but one day...i will take a whole year off and travel!
i think im going to do what you did...work hard for a few years and then hit the road
and yeah ive heard the same about brazil....usually im not scared about these things, but i just heard so much about brazil.....so im trying not to think about it and think about all the good things....which is pretty much everything (minus the crimes!!)
I hope you do get to go to brazil or start your travels soon, u definitely sound like u deserve it!
thanks again for the advice on brazil!
Traveling a whole year would be great, but a litle bit to expensive though
Whish I hade lots of money, then I would buy a boath, and sail the world. Then I could go anywhere I wanted for as long as I wanted....
But was thinking about beeing gone for like 3-5 months. Maybe more...who knows? hehe
Men siden du er oppvokst i danmark, så skjønner du kanskje norsk, ihvertfall skriftlig...? hehe
jamen, det ka jeg godt! men selvfogelig mere skriftlig...men jeg ka' ogsaa forstaar en god del af norsk
and yeah travelling a whole year, would be expensive...but that would be money worth spent any day!!
i wish i had loads of money too....i would just travel eveywhere!!! 3-5 months still sounds good though!

Can I ask why you would be staying in Sao Paulo? I live here and this city isnt a tourist city whatssoever!! U cant go wrong with Rio but be careful. Northern Brasil has the best beaches. Have fun
I hope to be there around that time but I might only arrive in Rio only on May 16th since I am taking a graduate-level course this spring and it only gets done on May 12. As far as traveling solo goes, I am convinced it's not a big deal but you definitely should network with locals ahead of time. If you haven't already checked out the site below, it is definitely worth your time:
I was in Argentina and Uruguay last April and connecting with other travelers and locals through the website above turned my trip into a social extravaganza. I arrived in Argentina alone but didn't have a minute to myself since I always had travel companions for all the tourist destinations and the nightlife. Good luck planning your trip.
While planning my trip, I landed on a great list of safety precautions for Rio. The link is below:
