Hi guys! This is my first ever post--though I've been lurking and reading for almost a year now :)

My friend and I plan to go around SEA mainland this may. We have three weeks. I'd like to seek the advice of experienced travelers about what route or itinerary we can follow. Its gonna be budget travel all the way (we're from the Philippines and our Peso isn't really as strong the currencies of our SEA neighbors :) )

The details: 3 weeks in May 2009. We want to visit: Singapore.Malaysia.Thailand.Vietnam.Cambodia. Laos can be an option too but I know 3 weeks is such a short time. We want to really explore Thailand and Cambodia, so we'll probably stay there the longest.

Where do you suggest that we start our travel? Could you also give me suggestions about how we hop from one country to the next. Lastly, I'd also like to know what you loved so much about the different countries :)

Hope to hear from a bunch of you. Thank you so much!

In my opinion you are ttrying to take in way too much in the time that you have. But that is me. I want to have time to get a flavour for a country that I am in. If you do all of these countries you are really going to be on the run, and consider at least a full half day travel for evry country you see, not to mention city to city which could be even longer.
So, having said that, you need to fly to every city and every country you want to try and visit, just to save time.

You may want to consider starting in Singapore, couple days, head into KL for a couple, then into Phuket for several, then into Bangkok. From Bangkok you can then fly into Cambodia.
Or do the reverse. My suggestion, but I am partial, I love Thailand and it's hard to beat the Andaman coast area. That is where I would spend most of my time, but that's me. A week in Thailand is way to short for me. Whats great about it. FOOD! the friendly people, great shopping, great beaches, great waters, especially along the Andaman side. Did I mention the food!
Good luck!
