Hi. I need some information about road travel in Mexico. First of all, the most basic of all questions - Where in El Paso do you cross the border in to Mexico (Ciduad de Juarez)? I need a road name. I know where you go from Ciduad de Juarez into the US but it doesn't appear to be two way.

I believe the road from Ciduad de Juarez to Chihuahua (route 45) is a toll road. Can anyone confirm this or tell me how much it costs?

Secondly- does the train from Chihuahua to Los Mochis (El Chepe) have anywhere to store a large motorbike for the journey?

Hi!

I just drove down into Mexico via the El Paso border crossing.

DO NOT GO THROUGH CIUDAD JUAREZ!!!!!!

First of ll Juarez is dangerous and I am not easily spooked. It really is. I live 4 hours away from Juarez and it is not a place you want to get lost in.

You want to cross the border a Teresa. It's not really on any of the maps, but it is about 10-15 miles west of Juarez. It is a small, chill border crossing that took me 1 minute on my way in. Also, on the way back to the US, it was like 2 minutes, no line, no hassle. And that road in hooks up with the toll road 45D below Juarez.

Remember all highways with "D" after them are toll roads.

Coming down I-25 S in the States, you get onto I-10 E for a little bit and I want to say the exit for Teresa is called Summerland or Sunland or something like that. I can't remember exactly and I gave my road atlas away...sorry!!! But go on the lonelyplanet.com website and ask/search on their travel forum "thorntree". Someone on there will know the exact exit.

Other tips...

The Mexican Road Atlas is called "The Guia Roji" and is definitely worth getting. They sell it on Amazon.

And here is a great website put out by the Mexican Dept of Trans.

http://aplicaciones4.sct.gob.mx/sibuac_internet/ControllerUI?action=cmdEscogeRuta

It gives you point by point directions between any 2 Mexican cities. It also gives you travel times and toll costs.

Have fun!!!
