Hi, I am embarking on a 5 month trip all over South America in March.
I am fustrated to be missing South America's notorious carnivals and I was wondering if anyone knows of other Carnivals that take place, especially when I am in the countries!!!
my rough timeline is:
Chile - April
Bolivia - May
Peru - May/June
Brazil - July
Argentina - August

Unfortunately, you will be missing Carnaval in Brazil and Argentina, which takes place in February and the beginning of March. Don't know about the other countries though!

trust me, your not missing anything. Its overpriced and most brasilians dont even go to see it. The prices to see it average 100 dollars to 10 thousand dollars. ANd the hotels charge 3 times the normal rate, at best. But I still love Rio

Exactly, you don't really miss something. Your trip your trip seems really nice, you will see so many things and you will have so much fun that you don't have to worry about carnivals. :)
