Me again.

Goingt to be arriving in Bangkok on 31st March (from Vietnam) and am flying out of Bangkok on the 7th April back to the UK but want to finish my trip off with a bit of leisurely beach and relax time. Which Islands/resorts would you recommend that we could get to in a reasonably short time (flying is a definite option) where we can experience an exotic beach which hasn't been semi spoilt by hundreds of bars etc.

Thanks in advance

Ryan

try koh phi phi. You can get there from phuket...which you can fly to from bkk. Or you can fly to koh samui. From there go to ko tao. Very relaxed...good for diving and snorkling. Koh Phi Phi was the most beautiful to me but tao was very relaxed.

I would also suggest Phi Phi Is. You have to take into account the time it takes to get to and from, travel time. You'll probably lose a day or two in Bangkok in and out. Then half day in and out of Phuket and Phi Phi. That really leaves you only 3-4 days on the island relaxing.
Good luck and have fun

My favourite Thai islands are Koh Phi Phi and Koh Pha Ngan, and in general I would totally recommend them both.

But given that you want somewhere that hasn't been spoilt by hundreds of bars they might not be what you're looking for. There's not actually hundreds of bars on either island, but they both have a buzzing night-life so if you want to avoid this then somewhere like Koh lipe might be a better choice. I've never actually been there myself but a lass I recently met said it was really nice for relaxing and much quieter than Koh Phi Phi.

Having said that, Koh Pha Ngan actually gets fairly quiet after Full Moon and you can always stay on Long Beach on Koh Phi Phi if you want to avoid the night-life.

Ryan,
If you choose the Krabi area, then you do have a great beach option on Koh Jum. The ferry leaves from Krabi at 10:30am and you are there in an hour. Perfect timing if you take the overnight bus from BKK. Arrive in the early am, have BF in Krabi, get on the ferry. On the beach at noon.

Koh Jum still has cheap beach bungalows, it is not crowded, no bar scene. It might be what you are looking for. Hope this helps with your planning.

Hi there!
I'm Thai living in US...The best local Thai people like for leisure without a lot of a-go-go bar...is Hua-Hin. Just 3 hours drive from Bangkok or if you like to go far than that...Krabi is good too. Nice one at ow Nang.

Ryan,
I have never been to the Trang islands, but perhaps it might be what you are looking for.

Ko Chang and Ko Samet are both only a few hours away from Bangkok. I haven't been to either but have heard good reports about both.
