Sardinia maddalena

I am a Mexican and will travel to Sardinia and Maddalena next Friday for 3 days.
I saw that the youth hostel will not be opened till April 1st.

1. Please give me advise on cheap accomodation for the first night in Cagliari, second night in Magdalena Island
2. Is there a tour around the island? How do I get in touch with operators?
3. How do I find info in the train schedules for the island and ferry schedules for Madgdalena Island?
4. Do I need to book days in advance since it is not a highly seasonal period?

Don't you have a Lonely Planet or any other guidebook? Maybe that will answer these (rather detailled) questions.
