Hi folks!

I'm travelling from Istanbul to Cairo in early 2010, and am organising a tour around Libya straight after.

The tour company are organising my visa for Libya, so how do I get from Cairo to Tripoli?

I know I can fly for c. £250, but that seems a waste with all the interesting stuff between Cairo and Trip!

Can a bus be got?

There are buses and taxis right up to the border, and behind the border there are Lybian taxis waiting for people travelling onward. Due to regulations in Lybia I would check whether the tour company that got your visa cannot arrange for somebody to pick you up at the border to Egypt in a taxi.

There might be a bus from Cairo to Trip, but I am not sure. Best way to find out would be to go to the garage in Cairo and ask. I know that there are buses to Marsa Matruh and shared taxis from Marsa Matruh to Sallum.
