Cairo to Tripoli?

Hi folks! I'm travelling from Istanbul to Cairo in early 2010, and am organising a tour around Libya straight after. The tour company are organising my visa for Libya, so how do I get from Cairo to Tripoli? I know I can fly for c. £250, but that seems a waste with all the interesting stuff between Cairo and Trip! Can a bus be got? |

There are buses and taxis right up to the border, and behind the border there are Lybian taxis waiting for people travelling onward. Due to regulations in Lybia I would check whether the tour company that got your visa cannot arrange for somebody to pick you up at the border to Egypt in a taxi. There might be a bus from Cairo to Trip, but I am not sure. Best way to find out would be to go to the garage in Cairo and ask. I know that there are buses to Marsa Matruh and shared taxis from Marsa Matruh to Sallum. http://looklex.com/libya/z_gettingthere.htm |
