I think its been human nature from the dawn of time to want to look over the next mountain.

I'm driven by a sense of adventure and love of challenge and appriciation for the beauty of diversity which is totally innate to my character. I'm a born explorer.

I'm from NY so not 'Antipodean' but I think there is a cultural emphasis on travel for Kiwi and Ozzy youth. The 'OE' isn't a social norm back home. I didn't even know what a backpacker was before I went on my first trip abroad.

i come from a town with 80k people. i want to see some stuff and do some things that iv not done before. i could easily settle down and have a house, kids dog and all that rubbish....but for what??? im care free, taking the world by storm. having an impact on the people i meet and the stories i share. iv been away from the uk 9 months and could easily write a book. im going to keep working, travelling, seeing stuff and feeding my brain.

travel makes you realise who you are and what you can do. i am a star and i can do any thing. fact :)

There's a big wide world out there that's bigger than our country, city, suburb.

Why wouldn't you want to explore?

As I think others has said; what promoted me was the death of family members - for it me it was my parents, they both died young (well before 60) and I'm nearly half that (29) so you just gotta do the stuff you want to do.

I know this is in the Ozzie / Kiwi forum and I haven't been there yet but 2012 is my plan for that. But I think it doesn't matter where you are from or going to round the world, its that catalyst that makes you do it, could be from something horrible but you make what you can of it and turn it positive. And I'm lucky enough to be able to do it so I really shouldn't waste my life no :-)
