Like IMDB (I've a top 1000 voter ) can we have a poll runnign on the site. not THAT often, I think fortnightly is perfect, becuase people are away travelling more than IMDB users.

Sugestions I would like to see answers on include: How many countries have you visited

How many trips abroad, at home do you make a year

Do you normally go abroad via, train, plane, car, boat, whatever is cheapest

How many of you typically travel together (from your origin)

How many days abroad do you take a year

How many airlines have you flown with

Who is your favourite airline

Have your had a romantic time with someone you met abroad (open to intepretation perhaps ;))

I would be interested in being a regular contribution/helper in deciding on the poll topics to be published

Also: I think TP should have a spell check function.

We do a yearly poll; should be time for one again soon :) But I guess you mean more like one question for two weeks and then then next, etc.? Could be fun!

Spell checking is a function we believe the browser should handle (there's different languages to deal with in the blogs for example and this can all be handled already by browsers). Good browsers like Firefox already do this for example depending on what language you've set on your computer. It's a much better and faster way to handle this.

Any chance of a small email account @travellerspoint?

There's also very little benefit I can think of to having an @travellerspoint.com email account vs an @[email protected][email protected], aside from the fact that it would be 'cool'

Thats what I was thinking. I have very little cool of my own, so I was hoping to artificially inflate it.

I guess I will have to go hang out in hollywood till I see a celebrity, then do some name dropping. Or maybe I will respond to some of those emails in my spambox, they all promise great results from just a pill. Pleasing women would make me cool right?

15 posts and a full member?! I was up to 93 before I hit "full" , get the fractions have shifted recently.

As for "cool" in the woman aspect, having won champagne in Darwin I returned to my dorm where 2 girls were staying 9neither were in the roma t the time, when one was outside playing poker, the other returned from the shower [start stopwatch], I then noticedwe we spoke diffeent languages and fluently spoke her langauge, suggesting I turn off the light, at 1 min 39s (I checked my watch before "taking it off" ), hmm, will leave that one open for you.

I bumped into her inthe outback, near some out houses where we needed the loo, however I think it was an odd place to reacquaint ourselves

It isn't just forum posts which determine these things; all activity on the entire site plays a part, including blog entries, wiki contributions, uploaded photos, etc. Moreoever, it's not just the quantity of these contributions which is looked at, but also their quality (e.g. featured forum threads, photos or blog posts, as well as highly rated forum posts and so on count for more, while for example posts in the off topic forum don't count at all.)
The algorithm which mixes all that input together and comes up with these ranks is pretty complex, but overall it tends to work reasonably well.

Other contributions to the site such as the Travel Guide counts too. There's a Travel Guru with just over 100 forum posts but he has contributed over 1.2 million characters in the Travel Guide! :)

Crikey! May I ask who is that?

I should probably stick in my 100 page travel diary as I no longer do diary columsn for BA anymore!

Added to WikiTravel, should migrate to here.

Have plenty of thoughts!

Thanks Hien anyway (relating to the other thread http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=58290 lol

I should probably calculate how many days abroad (acually travelling, that I have done). Aware it is in the region of about 70 flights and about 20 missed flights
