Me my self not a very religius person.Im also not hate mexico. What i mention above is, lost a child did a very big thing.
If u could just imagen how the mother carry him in her body 9 month. For things i've said, if it doesn't fit, i appologize. Im only human, i've born to make mistake.
I love mexico, i even adore the food. So in case someone from mexico getting angry with my word, i'm sorry.
Fae, if dont belive in religion, its your choice.
Faedryth, I must say that what you write is somewhat disappointing.
These people have lost their loved ones, and are simply warning others of what can happen, and that 3rd world laws exist outside of 1st world resorts. I certainly found it food for thought.
Move on, its for the best
Um...yeah, real easy....
I can kind of understand where Fae's coming from; this same topic has actually been brought up under several usernames over the last few months on TP and on many other travel forums I've noticed as well. It was getting pretty frustrating actually. Still, the story seems to be genuine and I hope that the family can find some sort of compensation from the resort.
As Fae says though, I don't think such things should deter people from visiting Mexico on the whole. All countries have drawbacks, dangers and unscrupulous people.
I understand what you are saying, but what bothers me, and I have seen it posted on the locogringo site is that Occidental should confess and settle with the Midlocks instead of fighting it. Occidental is loaded with money and can keep paying lawyers to fight the Midlocks. They are obviously at fault here with improperly designed return pipes. This is a no brainer. Out of respect for the Midlocks and humanity I agree with the Locogringo site that people should boycotte visiting any Occidental resort in the Carribean until they confess.Anyone that goes to an Occidental resort are funding Occidental which they in turn can pay thier lawyers to fight the Midlocks. I can't imagine anyone going to an Occidental resort after reading this, and if they do, they lack respect for humanity and will be cursed ! There are other resort options, thats all I ask.
I think i'm with you all on that one, people have a right to be warned...if people have the knowledge-its only fair, and it is so true that life is one big risk-anything can happpen at anytime, so you can't live in fear that would be silly, some people are more 'wary' than others. As long as people are aware-what harm can that do, some choose to take more risks than others-so be it, it's their choice, some choose to ignore warnings/advice-that's part of life.
Losing someone is un-imaginable and whilst you've got to 'move on'-moving on doesn't mean forgetting its a way of dealing and accepting the circumstances-well perhaps not accepting but dealing with it, learning from things, an eye opener perhaps.
I can understand why this sort of thing can cause so much upset but it is us who do this!-people! You can't go a round tarnishing every place with the same bad 'vibe.'
There are a large number of "accidents" that are occuring in the Riviera Maya. Cancun, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen are in the State of Quintana Roo which allows resorts/corporations to operate without any regard for safety or life. Brent was manslaughtered due to gross incompetence and negligence and his death was completely senseless. We encourage everyone reading this to go to www.brentmidlock.com and encourage others to read as an educational piece.
Our goal is to expose these types of atrocities that occur almost daily in Mexico in the hopes that awareness will help to prevent any family from experiencing the unspeakable pain and desperation that is now our daily existence. We ask that you forward Brent's website to as many people as you know and ask them to forward it to others.
These resorts/corporations must be held accountable for their incompetence and not hide or pay their way to ammending these atrocities. They will not dismiss Brent's death as if it was nothing without consequence.

That is so sad. Its good that you're trying to warn others of this danger. To make it easier and therefore more likely that people will go to Brent's website I've made it a "clickable" link:
