They are great pants. Tough fabric. Very breathable. Don't bunch up on long trips. Lots of joint room. Secure pockets. DEEP front pockets. Dry relatively quick.

But they are a darker green/lighter green/light brown camouflage design.

Any chance of this being a problem in Egypt, or Jordan? What about away from more traveled areas? I don't wanna get myself into trouble over such a dumb oversight.

Egypt and Jordan are not the kind of place where you want to wear these pants especially not if you plan to go hiking in the desert or get off the beaten track. I strongly recommend that you bring other pants.

You'll understand what I mean when you see the tight security and the number of people in uniform with a gun in their hands in Egypt. Aside from that Egyptian men generelly wear either jeans, traditional dress or most common dress pants. They do not wear shorts or camouflage, you would stick out like a sore thumb.

Maybe you want to take a look at the Sahara or Mojave pants from REI.com

U could buy winter camoflage pants.... I’m sure most people won’t know its army pants...hehe

But seriously, they reflect the heat very good and they look cool. However, they’ll get very dirty...

Camo pants is a no no in most arabic countries!

Unless you want to have a slight chance of being considered military!

Just got back last night. I would have been comfortable in them in Sharm, Dahab, Cairo, Alex, etc. I think it probably would have been ok, but it was also probably a safer idea not to.
