Quoting Sam I Am

Quoting Utrecht

It is not all about new people, the current members are much more important in my opinion.

The current members are of course exceptional and we love them all!! :)

Seriously though, we really really appreciate the current members. A site like ours is only ever as good as the sum of its users; and Travellerspoint is fantastic ;) Just want to make sure we keep newer users happy too so that they can become 'current users' in a years time

Dammit Sam, this way there is no use of debating

Don't curb their enthusiam simply stop url's from being published!

Thats what spamming is really defined as IMO

So I would say no URLs if you are a Newbie. When they get the warning if would encourage them to contribute more, then, they will lose their newbie status and they can then add urls if they like =

I am going to spam you because you posted this twice...
Good idea by the way. No url's for the first week
Afterwards, it is complementary though, because basically I need info where to book things;)
We need to come up with decent penalties for copying things as well. Like being a janitor for a week or so

Soz for the double post. On IE right now and I needed to resubmit as it crashed

Anyway, do we really want to publish website where they can book? Then they will be travelling and not on the website (this website!). Catch 22 :lol

However hopefully the guides and photos they saw would inspired themt o reutn here after their trip and post their reponse, edit the Wiki, to keep it up to date, 24/7 and also post some awesome photos!

In fact in a Wiki you had that was 100% yours their was an ad to the side which looked interesting so I clicked it. It had good deals Hope it was ok for me to mention it (proves the ads are relevant).

I think one week regardin ghteir curfew is slim. Or maybe, like I said, once they are past newbie mode.

Aware I harp on abotu polls, but demograhics about what people use the site for would be a godsend.

Reckon we (sounding brotherly right now) could replace Wikitravel in the top 50 website list things.

Cos of my click? Did you check via adsense? I haven't heard back from Google yet :( Been 4 days

Just gonna throw a newbies two cents in here.

If my first couple hours on this site had been limiting, I wouldn't be here. I haven't added much to the wiki but I've added a few things that are new information.

All I can think about is my escape and my trip lately, so this site is where i end up surfing at work and at home sometimes, and I haven't even gotten attached to the community or anything. It's purely the site and it's reams of information, insight, humor and knowledge that bring me back (and photos, great photos on some pages).

It is those things and the stupid little percentage next to my name that make me want to contribute what I can to the wiki guide (I think the cheap thrill of point/rating recognitions are something that is strongly ingrained into a video game generations psyche, but that is a whole different topic).

It can always be tempting to mess with a good thing when trying to get it better, but you run the risk of alienation and elitism, and then it may become just another one of those sites with a travel theme.
